Whether you bound straight out of bed to the running track or have a slower, relaxed early rise, the simple things we do in the morning set the foundation for the rest of the day. In our Morning Rituals series we ask some of our favourite morning warriors to share the little secrets that help them kick start their day.
Founder of the region’s first photo booth concept, Fishfayce and of moushii.com – an online party supply company – Zeina Abdalla has added a new flair to the business of entertaining in the Middle East. The stunning entrepreneur also recently gave birth to a gorgeous little boy and seems to have mastered the art of multi-tasking, moving effortlessly between her roles as business mogul to mother on a daily basis. Sand and Smoke sat down with the Iranian beauty to find out her tricks for getting the best start to a very busy day…all we can say is we will definitely have what she’s having..
“It does something to you when you work out: you feel great, like you have accomplished something.”
“I’m usually up at 5:30am. I wake up, snuggle with my son then change and feed him. I don’t usually have an appetite this early in the morning. The only thing I can have is my wheatgrass drink before I head out of the house. I leave the house at 6:30am to go to Physique 57. As crazy as it sounds, it really energizes me.
I arrive at the office at 8:30am. Luckily there is a coffee shop near by where I work so I usually pick up an Americano – I can’t start my day without my cup of coffee. Around 10am I have some fruit – either a banana or pomegranate seeds (if I’m having a cheat day, I opt for a gluten free banana and nut muffin). I also sometimes prepare a chia seed pudding the night before. I mix chia seeds with coconut milk, vanilla and orange blossom and top it off with almonds, dates, bananas and berries. I also drink a lot of water throughout the day.
I take Vitamin D and iron supplements and I have just started to take B Complex vitamins.”
